Choral Eucharist: Feast of St Mungo
All are welcome to this Anglican service celebrating the feast of St Mungo (also known as St Kentigern), founder and patron saint of Glasgow. The Memorial Chapel features stained glass and wooden carving depicting the life of St Mungo, and this event offers a great opportunity to learn more about Glasgow’s earliest foundations in this, its 850th year. Followed by tea and coffee.

An inclusive service in the style of the Taizé community. Meditative words and sung chant characterise this short service, which is centred around a period of silence. The service is held by candlelight and offers a time of reflection at the end of the day.

Choral Contemplations IV: Celtic Choral Contemplations
During Celtic connections, we explore music with a link to Celtic saints and lands. The concert will include a rare performance of Scottish songs arranged by Breton composer Paul Ladrimault (1877–1944) setting of Scottish songs alongside music by Michael McGlynn (b.1964), Henning Sommero (b.1952) and Sheena Phillips (b.1958).

Traditionally, the second term of the academic year in Scotland’s Ancient Universities was called Candlemas, named for the feast marking the presentation of Jesus at the Temple. All welcome.

A programme of music inspired by the natural world. We also mark the 80th birthday of Sir John Rutter (b. 1945), with a performance of his unaccompanied anthem ‘A Hymn to the Creator of Light’ and music by Ivor Davies (1901–1970).

Choral Contemplations VI: The Redhill Passion
The Redhill Passion, by Kenneth Tay (b. 1982), reimagines the legendary tale of Bukit Merah, where a clever boy saves his village from deadly swordfish with his ingenuity, only to be betrayed and killed by the jealous Raja. This world premiere with the University of Glasgow Chapel Choir explores themes of sacrifice, resilience, and the enduring memory of justice lost.
